The "why" Factor

February’s series of blogs called “what do you believe about love” has been inspired by  excerpts from Coventry Magic by Jacki Smith.

Just to recap: For 2015, we are dedicating ourselves to unleashing your personal power. Since this is no overnight task, we have broken it down month by month. February, we talk about what love actually means to you.  Before you can let yourself love or be loved, isn’t it a good idea to figure out what that looks like for you? In the last blog, I talked about deciding for yourself what you believe about yourself instead of letting others determine it for you.  We suggested burning the Motor City Road Opener candle with the Blessed Herbal Happiness oil to insert some positive energy into the equation. To read in more detail, you can go back to the blog title What you believe in yourself, you will manifest.

The “Why” Factor

There is a chapter in the beginning of the book Coventry Magic in which Jacki talks about the “why” factor.  It talks about taking your blocks and breaking them down peice by peice to discover what is behind it all. You take an issue you have and your ask yourself “why”.  Simple enough right?

“I don’t want to visit with my family this weekend.”

Why?

“Because they visits always last too long”

Why is that a problem?

“I feel like I am behind in my work”

Why is that?

“I have promised too much of myself to work, I don’t have good boundaries.”

Now discovering this does not change anything about the reality of the situation, but it puts into perspective about what you are really anxious about from the situation.  Is being overworked a temporary thing?  Is it worth the trade off of spending time developing relationships outside of work?  Are you overwhelmed at work because you are being taken advantage of or are you struggling with learning something new? Perspective can lead to prioritizing and that can help you form goals or make small (or big) changes.

I thought of the “why” factor for February's theme “what you believe about love” because it is the perfect exercise to see where you are in the respects this whole love thing.  You can use it to evaluate an unhappiness in a relationship, what is the next step for you and your partner, why do your relationships seem to fizzle or even what is the perfect romantic gesture for that special someone?

For more information on this exercise, I suggest checking out the book Coventry Magic by Jacki Smith. It is a great book for anyone wanting to start with Candle Magic.
