Everyone has the capacity to heal

Back in 2008 I published the Healers Almanac and within its pages I shared many different modalities and therapies available. Each in their own way, alleviate the many symptoms we suffer from by bringing the body, mind and emotions back into balance.

The goal of the HA is to teach, inspire and engage us into taking authority over our wellness and the way we heal. It is a book full of options along with encouragement to open our minds to what illness is, and how we can approach it in a holistic way.

I also included 12 modern day goddess. Each brought their own message and guided meditation. The insight from these twelve divine feminine expressions are an important part of our healing journey too. Through their guidance and consoling words, we are brought closer to mastery over many critical facets of life. I have found these meditations to be timeless because they are so foundational to life.

This month, with the theme being healing magic, I’d like to honor those who are healers with our Witches Union Healing Magic Patch. True, everyone has the capacity to impart healing energy. We do it by listening with compassion and interest, with our kisses and hugs, and with our prayers and intentions. Bottom line, everyone can proudly and rightly wear our Healing Magic patch, but I’d like to personally thank all those who dedicate their life to the healing profession.

One particular healing modality featured in the Healers Almanac is Aromatherapy or Essential Oil Therapy. This modality practiced by French perfumer and chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse and collaborated with many doctors during the 1st world war. His own experience with lavender essential oil may have saved his life. His account here,

“The external application of small quantities of essences rapidly stops the spread of gangrenous sores. In my personal experience, after a laboratory explosion covered me with burning substances which I extinguished by rolling on a grassy lawn, both my hands were covered with a rapidly developing gas gangrene. Just one rinse with lavender essence stopped “the gasification of the tissue”. This treatment was followed by profuse sweating, and healing began the next day (July 1910).” Source, roberttisserand.com/2011/04/gattefosses-burn/

That event launched a lifelong study of the healing properties of plants and then into best practices of plant cultivation and distillation of essential oils. He wrote many books on the subject, his most popular Aromathérapie: Les Huiles Essentielles Hormones Végétales in 1937, and is coined the father of aromatherapy. Plants also have magical properties as taught by Scott Cunningham. His book Magical Aromatherapy beautifully blend the scientific world with the magical art of perfumery. It is from Cunningham’s research that we base the magical blends of all our Coventry products as well as the magical uses of our single scents, Wicked Good Energetic Oils.

One particular healing modality featured in the Healers Almanac is Aromatherapy or Essential Oil Therapy. This modality was first discovered and practiced by French perfumer and chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, 1910. Like many discoveries, it came accidentally. Rene had burned his hand during an experiment gone wrong and submerged it in the closest vat. It happened to be filled with Lavender oil. His hand healed faster and with less scarring than he expected. I’d like to share with you a candle ritual you can do to awaken the healer with in. It also helps awaken your compassionate side. You will need a Blessed Herbal Healing candle, and one or more of my favorite Energetic oils to dress the candle. Here’s the list; Juniper – to strengthen your commitment to taking care of yourself, Frankincense – for letting go of memories that bind you to pain of the past, Sage – promotes longevity and mental relaxation, Sweet grass – drives out the negative energy that supports dis-ease. Dress your candle with one or more Energetic oil. Light the Candle and say the blessing on the label and add the request for help in opening your healing abilities and awakening the gift of compassion in your soul. Burn the candle for about three hours a day until it’s gone. Ease yourself into situations of being of help or in service, as you feel ready. If you get the calling to be a healer, begin your search for the modality you will be practicing and learn it.
