The month of June brings the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and we find ourselves swimming in the healing waters of the sign of Cancer. Cancer is known for its nurturing qualities and is the sign associated with mothers and motherhood.

So, while we are in the sign of the crab, our focus will be on self-care, caring for our families, family and tribal bonds, and comfort and security.

1. Healing Magic – Cancer is the sign associated with all forms of healing. Cancer is a water sign, and the symbol of water reflects cleansing and purification. The Full Moon in Sagittarius:

This month, the Full Moon occurs in fiery Sagittarius on June 3rd. The Full Moon cycle reflects the need to let go of areas governed by the sign they are in, and in the case of Sagittarius, it’s our beliefs that are on the chopping block. Letting go of beliefs can be daunting because they have often propped us up and been a main feature of our personal psychology. However, now is the time to let go of outdated beliefs that may no longer be useful and hinder personal growth.

New Moon in Gemini

This month, the New Moon occurs in Gemini on June 18th. Although this is an excellent time to do magic and intention work to bring new things into your life, the New Moon forms a difficult square to Neptune in Pisces. The key to working with the New Moon square Neptune is to ensure that you are petitioning for what you want, not just doing something because it is momentarily glamorous. Remember the adage, be careful of what you wish for.

Since Gemini is an air sign, this is an auspicious time to do communication magic, including reopening the lines of communication with those with whom you have lost touch. Spells can include written petitions, feathers, smoke, and incantations.

May 29, 2023 – June 4, 2023

Get out your swimsuits, because the unofficial beginning of summer begins on Memorial Day, with the Moon moving into relationship-oriented Libra. Since the Moon makes favorable aspects throughout the day, it’s the perfect harmonious energy for barbecues, family outings, and a little bit of fun in the Sun. The Moon continues to move through Libra on Tuesday and forms a lovely trine to the Sun. Anything you put your mind to should be accomplished easily, and you will receive support from your inner circle.

On Wednesday, be on guard during the morning hours as the Moon forms a tense square to Venus. You may experience some minor opposition from the people around you, but overall the day should be positive. However, the energy shifts on Wednesday evening when the Moon moves into Scorpio and tangles with Pluto in Aquarius. Intense emotions may surface, especially if you feel controlled or bullied by someone. Avoid reacting to this energy, because it may escalate matters further. Tensions will spill over on Thursday as the Moon squares discordant Mars.

This weekend, emotions should simmer as Venus trines dreamy Neptune in Pisces. Venus trine Neptune is perfect for creative activities, but not the best energy if you need to get things done. Instead, you may want to relax and spend time doing things you enjoy. Later this weekend (besides the Full Moon in Sagittarius), Mercury conjoins Uranus in Taurus. Mercury conjunct Uranus will put your mind in overdrive, and it’s incredible for new ideas and thinking outside the box. The first full week of June starts with Venus moving into larger-than-life Leo. Venus in Leo loves being in love, and she appreciates all the accouterments that go with high romance. The pursuit of relationships is about connecting spiritually with someone to feel complete, and Venus in Leo will do whatever it takes to make that happen. Venus may experience some troubles because immediately after she moves into Leo, she opposes Pluto in Aquarius. Venus opposing Pluto is intense, and the love goddess often acts compulsively when she tangles with the dark lord of the underworld. You may experience power struggles in established relationships, or you may find yourself attracted to dangerous bad boys (or bad girls) if you are single. But, on its deepest level, Venus oppose Pluto argues a time when you should root out whatever is not working in relationships and attempt to connect with others on a deeper level. After all, true intimacy is the highest expression of romantic love.

Midweek, the Moon moves into high-minded Aquarius, and you will seek the support of your inner circle. However, the Moon tangles with a parade of planets including Pluto, Venus, Mars, Uranus, and Mercury. You may feel that opposition is coming from every angle, and you may need to settle some disputes before they escalate. The good news is that despite the inherent conflict of these aspects, the Moon in Aquarius always takes the high road.

Buckle your seat belt, because this weekend is filled with energy. We start on Friday with Mercury forming a beneficial sextile to Neptune. Your intuition will be off the chains, and you may understand the people around you and their motivations in new ways. Mercury sextile Neptune is when you should go with your gut, and avoid mental masturbation. On Sunday, Mercury trines Pluto, who returned to the sign of Capricorn earlier in the day. Mercury trine Pluto gives you self-awareness. If something is troubling you, you can dig deep and get answers or find solutions. Mercury will then move out of Taurus and into Gemini. You may find yourself curious about new subjects that excite you. Take this opportunity to expand your mind and learn new things.

June 12, 2023 – June 18, 2023

We start the week with the Moon moving through fiery and energetic Aries. On Monday, she forms a lovely trine to Mars and a sextile to the Sun. This is an excellent time to initiate projects and push forward with your agenda. However, be careful on Tuesday, because the Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn, and you slam headfirst into obstacles beyond your control, and you could be left feeling annoyed and cranky. The Moon will then shift into Taurus on Tuesday afternoon. Treat yourself to something decadent and do something enjoyable.

The middle of the week brings us Mercury square Saturn. You may struggle in your communication with others, so it’s best to avoid important conversations at this time. Furthermore, it would be wise to push away negative or critical thoughts if they surface. A proactive way to work with Mercury square Saturn is to focus on projects or tasks that require focus and discipline. Mercury-Saturn will give you the practical insight to get the job done succinctly. 

The energy of the week lightens up this weekend. In addition to the New Moon in Gemini, Mercury forms a lovely sextile to Venus in Leo. Mercury sextile Venus is perfect for leisurely and pleasurable activities, and it’s best to use this energy to take a mini-vacation from the real world. Socializing with friends and associates is also recommended. But, be prepared on Sunday evening for the clouds to roll in as the Sun squares befuddling Neptune.

The week starts with Jupiter forming a lovely sextile to Saturn in Pisces. If you want to start something new or expand an existing business or project, Jupiter sextile Saturn is an excellent time to do it. Saturn provides Jupiter with the patience to make things happen. Additionally, your excitement and enthusiasm will be tempered with reality, and this will help you make sound decisions that will ultimately pay off. 

The seasons change midweek as the Sun moves into Cancer, and summer (winter in the southern hemisphere) officially begins, and right on the Sun’s heels Mercury sextiles Mars in Leo. Whereas the hard aspects (conjunction, square, opposition) of Mercury and Mars are rather discordant, the sextile gives you a boost of energy to take advantage of opportunities presented to you. You are willing to work hard for anything you want to advance, and therefore, you will likely succeed. Furthermore, you may need to make a case to push your agenda forward, and the sextile will help you overcome any obstacles that may stand in your way.

The weekend starts with the Moon moving through Virgo. It’s a great weekend to tie loose ends and work on projects that need completion. However, on Sunday night, Mercury squares Neptune, and confusion and self-doubt may surface. Push away self-defeating thoughts and do not let them define you.

The last week of June is busy, and firecracker season begins early because on Monday Mars in Leo forms a combustible square to Uranus in Taurus. Mars square Uranus craves freedom and to be released from constraints, and this can take on some colorful tones. You will find that you are extremely restless, and this could lead to impulsive behavior.  Additionally, it is advisable to stay away from people with explosive tempers. 

The energy calms down in the middle of the week when the Sun forms a stabilizing trine to Saturn. Sun trine Saturn is the perfect time to take inventory of your life and work towards building structure and security. If you need to complete projects that require discipline and focus, this is the perfect time to do it. 

This weekend, for the most part, is positive, with a few Jupiter aspects (Mercury sextile Jupiter and the Sun sextile Jupiter) that occur on Saturday. It’s time to look at your long-term goals and develop strategies to achieve them. However, on Sunday, Venus squares Uranus, which could cause relationship issues, especially if they’ve been too smothering.
